News from Brandon...

First of all I would like to thank our members for their professionalism throughout the COVID-19 crisis. I have received several compliments on the way Local #103 have handled the additional requirements while continuing to be productive. There has been very little disruption to the projects we work on and this shows with your attitude and craftsmanship.

I would also like to thank those members who donated time and to the contractors who donated time, material, and equipment making nose pieces for masks through our SMART Army program. The local has sent out over 80,000 nose pieces across the country to volunteer groups and individuals making masks. This is yet another great opportunity to show the involvement unions have in every community.

Currently, we have 18 journeymen and 8 apprentices on the Idaho out of work list.  Wyoming has 2 in Cheyenne and 3 in Casper with no apprentices out of work. We have some members working in various areas of Montana, Utah, and Alabama. Stay safe and follow the preventative practices to protect yourself, your family, and your brothers & sisters.

Southeast Idaho Apprentice/Journeyperson Classes are in full swing; with Fall semester wrapping up, it is time for our Local Competition. The results of this competition will determine who gets the opportunity to represent Southeast Idaho and Local 103 in the regional competition held this year at Local 55 in the Tri-cites of Washington.

The welding Lab received their recertification this fall, Sam Moore, and Tyler Hansen deserves a big Thank-you for getting this work done.

Thanks to the generous contribution of a plasma table by L&L Mechanical, we are incorporating AutoCAD programming, Fabrication, and plasma table maintenance into our Layout and HVAC Curriculum.

We have added a new online training opportunity to our service curriculum. Cengage Training is open to all Journeypersons and select Apprentices, please contact Dave Cummings for more information. We have also enrolled four journeymen in the Service Basic Intense training In Las Vegas this spring, thanks to our Contractors L&L and Intermech for sponsoring this training.
